In 2013, the idea of EdStudios was born when three design and animation students, whose names coincidentally began with “Ed,” discussed the challenges of their local animation industry. With animation being practically nonexistent in their city, their options seemed limited: settle for graphic design, move to larger cities, or take a bold step by founding one of the first animation studios in the region to spark the growth of the industry.
Shortly before finishing their studies, Edgar Leal and Eduardo Dávila founded EdStudios in May 2017.
After winning some contests, they started gaining a reputation online and secured their first international clients, such as:
Bruce Fennell, who has trusted us since 2018 to bring his great ideas to life in series like Workin’ Fine and The Return.
Rodolfo Eduardo, with whom, starting in 2019, we formed a long-term strategic alliance that combined the best of design and animation. Together, we’ve reached significant milestones, including winning two hackathons and working on projects for major brands like Betcris.
Over the years, the team evolved. In 2019, Sergio joined and has been a key part of the studio ever since. In 2021, Lily joined the team, completing a lineup of talent that has continued to elevate the quality of our work.
In 2024, EdStudios embarked on a new adventure and entered a more mature stage. With Edgar Leal’s departure, the team was forced to reflect on its past, present, and future, defining what EdStudios would become moving forward.
Today, at EdStudios, we are a family of creators and dreamers, committed to leaving our mark on every project we take on. We are ready to face the challenges of the future with the same passion that brought us here, staying true to our mission: to create unforgettable visual stories, exceed expectations, and show that animation has no limits.
